"'Ah-nuld' finally shows his age -- and brings maturity to the role of a man reeling from personal tragedy."
ReelTalk Movie Reviews

"So exciting, absurd, and seemingly endless."
PopMatters
Cynthia Fuchs

"...a would-be story of heroism that suspends genuine nobility for halfhearted revenge and logical details for transparent manipulations."

"There's nothing special about this action flick, except how subpar it all seems and how tired it looks."
Ozus' World Movie Reviews

"It's a terrible thing seeing your wife and son blown to pieces, especially for a man who's smiling and waving just as the bombs go off."
Slant Magazine

"Whether this one makes any money will be the answer to the question of whether Schwarzenegger can just keep cranking these things out without thinking first, or whether we're going to start demanding some originality."

"I don’t feel the least bit ashamed in admitting that my enjoyment came at the expense of seeing justice served, even if it’s a dish that’s best served cold."

"Note to director Andrew Davis: a shot of a guy running, followed by a shot of another guy running is not a chase scene."
Film Blather
Eugene Novikov

"The only one that can do damage in the collateral sense are indifferent, undemanding moviegoers willing to embrace an unpalatable and choppy absurd fantasy over an overwhelming and disheartening reality."
Movie Eye
Frank Ochieng

"On its own by-the-numbers terms, the film is reasonably well- made; unhappily, the numbers don't add up to much... simpleminded and crude in its effects."
One Guy's Opinion

"A glossy knock-off of a B-movie revenge flick."
ReelViews
James Berardinelli

"never quite achieves its cathartic mission because its rote narrative is largely of the straight-to-video variety"

"I'm sorry to say that this should seal the deal - Arnold is not, nor will he be, back."
Palo Alto Weekly
Jeanne Aufmuth
"There's nothing here that you haven't seen before or has been pulled off better in some of the actor's earlier and far superior work."

"This movie 'is what it is' and for what that is...it's a good ol' time!"

"...standard DAM territory, a commonplace Dumb Arnold Movie he could have made in his sleep."

"If you are still quaking with rage at 9/11/01, go ahead and rent it, & just try not to ask too many questions. It might make you feel a little better."

"All in all, "Collateral Damage" is entertaining in all the ways a Schwarzenegger film is expected to: bad guys do him dirty, Arnold's character vows revenge, lots of things blow up, and the bad guys get theirs... a more intense actor would have carried it"
MovieCrypt.com
Kevin A. Ranson

"Bound to be remembered (if at all) as one of Schwarzenegger's lesser vehicles."
Montreal Film Journal
Kevin N. Laforest

"...will always be remembered for the 9-11 terrorist attacks. After seeing the film, I can tell you that there's no other reason why anyone should bother remembering it."

""Collateral Damage" may seem slightly more relevant today, but in the end, an average action movie is an average action movie."

"While it certainly would not hold an aura of freshness in any climate, on the fairly unpretentious terms on which it operates, the film does what it sets out to do."

"Diverting popcorn entertainment."

Collateral Damage
works on a level of wish-fulfillment. I say, put Arnie on a plane to Afghanistan now."

"But Arnold is getting too old for this kind of thing, and, given our recent experiences, audiences may feel that they are, too."
Movie Mom at Yahoo! Movies

"There is one terrific twist at the end that just about redeems the lazy plot, but by then we've been subjected to so many preposterous set pieces that we've stopped caring."

"The relic of a bygone age, sealed under glass and preserved well past its expiration date. If you listen closely, you can still hear it screaming. "

"It's about as convincing as any other Arnie musclefest, but has a little too much resonance with real world events and ultimately comes off as insultingly simplistic."
Seattle Post-Intelligencer

"Age, and a steady diet of Republican conservatism, has mellowed the once lethal action figure to a Richard Dean Anderson-level of hero."
